Time for a change
A lot has happened in such a little amount of time. Years have just slipped by. I have been thinking about it for a while. Finally, I was camping with a friend who brought his uncle. I am not sure how old he is but he has a son that is my age (28) so I imagine he is about 60. He told me that he was able to lose 60lbs in 4 months. I asked him about it. He explained that he was on the cookie diet. I have heard of it before but never looked into it. NOW…. When a man who is about 60 talks about losing 60lbs in 4 months, you tend to listen. I have tried everything to lose weight and it seems that everything works but only to a point.
The biggest factor to any diet is exercise. If you exercise why do you need to diet? My opinion is that eating healthy is all you need to do. So making a change in your lifestyle is what you need to do. But then you run into the issue of who is going to cook and what are you going to cook? Working full time I don’t have time or energy to cook when I get home. If you can, more power to you. Then, there is what you’re going to take to work for breakfast and lunch. I HATE!!!!!! waking up, to find out you're running late and then going and looking for food to take to work. Guess what?! I can’t find anything but frozen burritos and frozen breakfasts. It’s my own fault, but let face it, the fatter I get the lazier I get. It’s a vicious cycle.
Now as I approach 29 years old and almost 400lbs what do I do? I have been married for 5 years to my beautiful wife and we have a daughter. They don’t have any issues with weight, so it makes it difficult for both sides to diet. I lost my Father 2 years ago; he was only 55 years old. He struggled with weight all his life and I remember when he was my weight but then rose over 500lbs. I believe his weight was the biggest factor in his death. He was unhealthy and cancer set inside him.
So 2010….
As of last night 01/04/2010 I weigh 378lbs. I am 6’2” tall 28 years old. I had my favorite dinner (pizza from Pizza Hut) last night to say goodbye to my old life.
Now 01/05/2010 I started the Dr. Seigals Cookie Diet. Yesterday I went down to the Chandler Mall in AZ and purchased a 4 week supply. It was $198.00, so this will now be the most money I have ever spent in an actual diet plan. However, if you think about it, you are going to eat. They give enough cookies to have 6 a day. I was told that I should eat one and if I still feel hungry to eat another one. Then just snack on them throughout the day. I got 4 different flavors: Banana, Blueberry, Oatmeal Raisin, and Chocolate. I went home and broke open the bags they came in and got my Ziplocs out. I put 2 of each flavor into their own bags. Then I grab an old grocery bags and mixed 3 flavors into each bag so that I can just grab it and go. Also guess what… I am able to continue drinking my favorite drink which is Diet Mountain Dew. So I didn’t have to give everything up. If you drink regular soda then stop. Diet Dew is the bomb-- you can do it.
So now I am able to go and sit down all day at my desk job and not worry about getting fatter. Hopefully…
I will try my best to keep this blog going to inform all of my progress and hopefully motivate others to join me in my pursuit to happiness and health.
